My Dear Bali Mardan,

Please accept my blessings. I am in due receipt of your letter dated 4th August, 1971 and have noted the contents carefully.

So far your engagement is concerned, you should concentrate on the Australian side. If possible try and develop Kuala Lampur also. That is your jurisdiction, so develop it nicely. And there you should try and distribute our books and literatures as far as possible.

Regarding Kamala Devi, the clear idea should be that if she is interested in
us being there, then she should construct the temple according to our design
and we shall keep at least ½ dozen men there for keeping the Deity nicely and
eventually to organize an ashram there also. She should give us proper facility.
How else we will work?

I have also received one letter from Lalit Prasad Thakur and have replied it.

Hoping this will meet you in good health.

Your ever well-wisher,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

Please accept my blessings. I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter
dated 3rd August, 1971 and have noted the contents.

So far going to Africa is
concerned, I have answered that point in the enclosed letter to Gurudas. It is
not advisable at this time.

Frankly speaking the Deities are not as opulent as when They were being
taken care of by you. So if you want to come back here and take care of Them
I have no objection. But you are taking care of the Calcutta Deities, so what is
the difficulty there? Does the 'democratic management' not allow you to go to
the Deity room? What is the difficulty? Let me know frankly. Very soon we
will have Deities installed in Mayapur also.

The sweet Deities offered you can take and we can install them in some
center.

Hoping this will meet you in good health.

Your ever well-wisher,
A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

My Dear Sriman Vyasa,

Please accept my blessings. I am in receipt of your letter dated July 14, 1970 and its contents have been carefully noted.

Yes, you are correct when you say that for a true devotee of the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Sri Krsna theoretical speculations are avoided. Not only is devotional service the simplest way of God realization, as you have agreed, it is clearly pointed out by Lord Krsna in the Bhagavad-gita in every chapter that He can be achieved only by finally engaging directly in devotional service, or bhaktiyoga, the highest stage in yoga practice.

In the First Canto, second chapter, verse seven of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, it is clearly stated that by the process of applying devotional service unto the Personality of Godhead Vasudeva (Krsna), the immediate result is that causeless knowledge and detachment follow. Therefore the burden of useless theories can be avoided, simply by following the Sastras.

Anyone can understand that behind the beauty of nature, behind the succulent fruits and vegetables, and behind the wonderful heat and light of the sun, there is a Friend. So we should contact that Dearmost Friend, Krsna. Any reasonable man will accept this argument. That is rational thinking.

In the second chapter of the Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krsna says that ``One who restrains his senses and fixes his consciousness upon Me is known as a man of steady intelligence.'' Otherwise there can be no conviction. How can a man be convinced who will not accept? Krsna says hear from me, ``tatsrnu.''

We are going to popularize our Sankirtana Movement by following strictly the footsteps of Lord Krsna Caitanya Mahaprabhu and distribute Krsna consciousness literature throughout India as well as the rest of the world. All of our resources are used for this purpose.

Our Society is intended for the intelligent class of men, so you are invited to join this Sankirtana Movement.

Your ever well-wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

My Dear Upendra,

Please accept my blessings. I am in receipt of your letter dated August 4, 1970 and have examined the contents. A reply to your last letter was previously sent.

Now all my disciples must work combinedly and with cooperation to spread this Sankirtana Movement. If you cannot work together then my work is stopped up. Our Society is like one big family and our relationships should be based on love and trust. We must give up the fighting spirit and use our intelligence to push ahead. You should accept help from your Godbrothers.

Now I have set up the Governing Body Commission to handle management, questions of philosophy, and personal problems. These things are too much botheration for me, I simply want time to write books to satisfy my Guru Maharaja. If Balimardan Prabhu has gone to open still another Temple that is certainly good news. Kindly remain there and teach Upananda das by nice example and work together with the devotees there. If we work hard for Krsna without personal consideration or ambition, then we are assured of success.

Tomorrow I am leaving for Hawaii on the way to Japan. After some time our Sankirtana Party, including five of my disciples, will go on to preach in India. Meanwhile, kindly push on our Sankirtana program and distribute as much literature and prasada as possible.

I hope this reply finds you in good mood.

Your Ever Well-Wisher,
A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami
